スマホ1台旅 / Traveling Only With A Smartphone

This performance work involves traveling around Japan and overseas since 2017 with only a smartphone (and a passport, if overseas).

Using only the artist’s body, the goal of this work is to overcome the major barrier of national borders for a Japanese individual who was born and raised in an island nation. As they cannot carry physical belongings such as clothes, cash, or chargers, the artist relies on digital applications and the cooperation of those around him in an analog manner. By deliberately surrendering himself to the coincidences that arise during the journey, the performer practices proactive travel rather than passive tourism. The project’s ultimate goal is to help others acquire the ability to lightly transcend national borders. Starting in 2022, the project will be conducted jointly as a participatory initiative with the cooperation of the KDDI Research Institute.

2017年より行っている「持ち物スマートフォン1台（と海外であればパスポート）のみ」で国内外を旅するパフォーマンス作品。

島国に生まれ育った日本人にとって大きな障壁となる「国境」を、身ひとつで超える試み。衣服や現金、充電機など物理的な持ち物を所有できないため、テクノロジー技術の活用や、周りの人の協力が必要となる。その過程で発生する偶然性に意図的に身を委ねることで、受動的な観光ではなく、主体的な旅を実践する。軽やかに国境を超えていく能力を他者に実装することを目的に、2022年よりKDDI総合研究所の協力のもと、参加型のプロジェクトとして共同研究を行っている。
